Proud to be part of the 9AM talk net
I live in the SF Bay area. There is a repeater, N6NFI, 145.230 pl100, that many people in the area use. Many of us who are active on the repeater also are active in our local emergency communications groups. I saw this come together this morning, 6/16/09.
We have a net called the 9am talk net. It starts at 9am and runs for 1-3 hours Monday through Friday. This morning the regular netcontrol could not run the net.
I turn on the rig and I hear KI6DAR running the net. Asking for one person at a time to checkin since she did not have any paper to scribe with. Then she has to do a hand off and K6EBN takes over operating from his car in the same manor. The KG6RLD take over and finishes off the net.
Hearing how each hand off occurred and how people checking in as asked made me proud to be part of this ham radio community. Living in California, we know there is a big earthquake will occur. It has been almost 20years since the October 1989 Loma Prieta quake.
I am sure when things happen and the ham community is called upon that we will be the communication professionals required at times like that.
Iam glad to know all you guys on the repeater.
