Maker Faire 2009
Oy. It's been almost 2 weeks since the faire. The house is mostly put back together. My stuff is put away. But some comes back out for field day in 2 weeks.
It went really well. Found out that many of the makers are hams. The volunteers all had fun. The ARRL is really happy with the results. The show organizers received positive feedback.
One more club wants to participate. So we might have 4 ham booths around the faire next year. WOO HOO.
If I find that one or two people show up at the hamcram with their maker faire ticket stubs, then the show was an absolute success.
I was leery about the space. Only 6 feet wide. But it all worked out well. I already made sure they know we want that space again next year for the faire.
Changes for next year include No HF. It just works really badly because of all the interference. Use UHF instead of VHF for the call-in frequency. Get someone to help me on Thursday to haul everything there and setup the booth. More homebrew.
Next year I MUST not try to stand on my feet in the booth all day. Take a 30 minute sitdown breaks about every 3 hours. By Sunday I was just out of it. Also the booth just ran itself. I really lucked out with awesome volunteers. Take more time to enjoy the show. Also next year, fly a rocket!
