I've owned a pair of bifocals for about a year. Until this past weekend, every time I put them on I would get a headache in about 20 minutes. This weekend, I stopped getting the headache. I've been wearing these as my primary pair of glasses for a few days now. Now I believe I need 3 pairs of glasses. The bifocals. A pair of sunglasses. And a pair of computer/reading glasses using the bifocal insert prescription.

Bifocals are a weird sensation. There are times you don't notice that there are two views of the world hanging off your nose. Other times you literally see double as to see something through both. The worst is when you see a hard line in your vision. Mostly when looking through the top part for me. It like your frame is too small and your peripheral vision is shrunk.

You you have the money, get the lasik. This way you just need reading glasses. My issue is more the anxiety attacks I have about people touching my eyes. You don't want to measure my blood pressure when I get my eye's examined. So letting someone put a clamp in my eye to prevent me from blinking and allowing the laser to be that close is just not going to happen. E V E R.

God help me if I get cataracts.

If you do need bifocals, get slightly large uncooler frames. You need room for 2 different lenses in there. It probably would have helped me get used to them faster.

Owning a parrot is work and they are very social creatures. Elena my Caique does not enjoy knowing I am home, but not seeing me. It pisses her off. And a pissed off parrot is one that screeches and bites. I have rolled her cage across the apartment a few times. It helps her behavior a lot. But the wheels on the cage is not meant for moving every day. I can't keep Elena's cage by the office. It would cause problems. One, the cage would partially block access to my front door. That is very inconvenient. Two, Elena does like to be by the window and look outside. So I have bee trying to find a small bird stand I can keep near the office for a while every day.

At first I was looking at bird stands. But they tend to be either to large or too cheaply made. I've seen the very basic stands that is just a perch with a couple of feed cups on a perch. But the ones I've seen recently are not worth the $100. Plus there was no way to attach toys to keep Elena busy.

I picked up Elena from the pet sitter last week and saw a reasonable stand for $50. Again the basic perch with 2 feed cups. In the store was a small table top play set of manzanea branches. Plus they have the large manzanea tree branch play stands. And they also sold manzanea branches that could be attached to a cage. I put it all together can came up with my own stand.

I bought the $50 stand, plus 2 cage topper branches. I pulled off the cups. Because of the thickness of the perch, I had to get out a chisel and a knife to thin the perch so I could attach the branches. So now I've spent $100 total. And Elena is much happier being able to see me.

Right now I don't have a water or food cup attached, so there is a bit more work to do. I saw a couple of cups I can attach. Plus I'll put in a couple of eyelets to attach some toys. This will make a great stand for less than what I pay other one for. For the hour or so of time, I have a much higher quality stand and it is the size I need it to be.

You can see in the picture I had to carve away half the thickness of the perch. Since the perch is a hard wood, it was a pain in the butt to do.
