Were can I get the right sneakers!!!!!

Being a big guy with wide feet, width 6E, creates a discouraging experience at the gym. I have the strenth and stamina to spend 30 or more minutes on the eliptical. But I can't seem to find sneakers that make this comfortable.

Tonight was almost bearable. I bought the New Balance 1122 runnng shoe. New Balance is the only sneaker that comes in 6E widths. So after spending $123 on the sneakers, and a $40 after market new balance insole in it, I can go for 30 minutes.

It's like my feet grow another full size and the shoes are too tight.

Along with the insole, I made sure the show was loose. I did not tighten the laces at all. This seems to work.

Hopefully I stick with this, loose weight and that part of the problemn reduces itself.

I tend to go to the gym in spurts. I'll for for 3-8 weeks. the not go for a few months. Then I'll start thinking about it. Then about a month after that I'll go again.

I've never liked working out. When I've done any type of excercise it has been social.

Logitech IO2 Pen - User Report
I've been using my Logitech IO Pen for a while.

It really does work great.

You can modify the pages after you've written to them. The pen file is updated with the changes. It work great.

So you can use a page for a topic. You can keep updating that topic page. When you upload the pen contents, the page gets updated. So the page you see on screen continutes to look like the paper.

In the end the trick is to just use the search function to find what you want. The OCR function is a pain in the ass. You sit there with a two page layout. One with the page image and one with the translated text. You need to correct what isn't correctly converted.

Now if need to format the text. I'm then dealing with word. So that is really a third step.

As for diagrams, I have not figured those out. The best thing is to use your favorite drawing program to create a better version of the diagram.

The flip side of all this is that I still have to take my notes and load them on to a twiki page for my team to read. So I am still retyping the notes.

From one perspective, this is cool. From another, it is still a notebook that you can search without flipping pages.

Interesting technology. Not sure if I want to keep it going for the long term. Especially when it is faster to retype the notes than to convert to text.

Handwriting Regognition - The Pen top continued

I have owned a PDA since the Newton. I owned a Newton 110. Probalby one of the first items I sold on eBay. I loved the Newton. The software was great. My adressbook, calendar and todo's all there. Wonderful.

Oy, but if you were away from the computer and wanted to add information you needed to WRITE it and have it be recognized by the Newton.

I type. I don't write. I have not done a lot of writting since college. Even at that time I was out of college for about 10 years. And my handwritting always sucked! I was never made to write cursive. I learned it, but never did it.

I can't read my handwritting after a month sometimes. I have to go through my notes once a month and type them up so I can capture what I wrote.

So the newton's hadwritting recognitions software was really bad. I dod not buy one until the 100. I was able to write "the quick brown fox jumps ov er the lazy dog", 3 times with little issue. It is one of those sentences that contains every letter.

I could not use it as a notepad replacement. When graffiti came out, i load that on it. Things improved, but still, note a note pad.

The difference is that when taking notes, you decifer your checken scratch later. Being anal, I had to fix my mistakes as I entered the data. So data entry was too slow. Between bad spelling and bad character recognition, it was useless.

When the palm came out I jumped on the band wagon. I've owned a Palm, palmIII, PalmVx, a Sony clie, and now a Palm TX.

I moved from Graffiti to Jot. Now Palm bought Jot and is calling it Graffiti2. But the original Jot app is better. More options to tune how you write a letter. plus the tutorial is good, My TX does not have a graffiti2 tutorial.

So still, I have this bad habbit I am not working on breaking. But I like having my life in a small device.

Well now I have the logitech Pen. I train it, it does not train me. we'll see If I can finally use a pen based computer to enter data.
